Alex Y. Ding
PRO Fellow; The Real Chi Alumni
Alex Y. Ding is a documentary filmmaker, organizer, producer, and writer based in Chicago. She is a Fellow at Free Spirit PRO, an Associate Producer at Siskel/Jacobs Productions and Kindling Group, and a 2019 NeXtDoc Fellow. She has produced videos for Chicago Reader, The TRiiBE, and Free Spirit Media, and her writing has appeared in WBEZ, City Bureau, Chicago Defender, In These Times, The Huffington Post, and more.
In 2018, Alex was a Reporter at Free Spirit Media’s The Real Chi, where she covered arts and culture on Chicago’s West and South Sides. As a current Fellow at Free Spirit PRO, Alex is thrilled to join a talented team shooting and editing impact-driven videos for non-profits and people across Chicago.
Prior to that, Alex served on the steering committees of the National Prison Divestment Campaign and #CareNotCops, and has organized in Chicago around racial, immigrant, and economic justice for five years.
