Kelli C. Walker

Environmental Health and Wellness Reporter, The Real Chi

Kelli is an aspiring journalist who was raised as a city girl on the South Side of Chicago in a home full of southern love from Montgomery, Alabama and Natchez, Mississippi. She uses her skill of journalism to shine a light on marginalized stories within her community and her college campus. After all, the best stories are those that have yet to be given the platform to be heard.

She is anticipated to graduate in December 2018 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.A. degree in Journalism, specializing in Anthropology and Communications with a minor in Public Relations. With a desire to work in sports and entertainment, she works closely under the mentorship of Richmond Studios in Urbana, IL. Her experience consist of writing blogs for her University’s magazine (TheSpread) for over 3 years, working with FoxSports in the coverage of football games, producing magazine shows that highlight sexual assault and sporting conflicts, anchoring and reporting for UI7 NewsBreak and UI7 News, previously served as programming chair for N.A.B.J, produce sports coverage for the university’s news, and more.

When Kelli isn’t reporting or editing, you can find her having her own mini-concert around her home. Reading is always close by as imagination can never be limited and Dancing and Drawing are old passions that still seems to burn brightly.
