“Our Constitution is strong!”

That was one of the phrases newly elected president Joe Biden stated at the inauguration, and I could not disagree more. Our Constitution has never been strong. Nor has this country. I cannot lie and say I am excited about having a new president. I’m excited that we no longer have a racist, narcissistic, president. Although I feel like we elected the lesser evil. I have strong doubts about the direction this country is headed for. The Constitution has never been strong, and it’s probably one of the most fraudulent documents we have in our government. The Constitution was written in the late 1700’s, and has been slightly amended since, but essentially still holds it’s main principles that were created in the 1700’s as law. How are we prospering as a country, and we don’t even evolve the Constitution to fit with the decade? How many times are we going to elect a president that has multiple agendas? Nothing is really getting better in this capitalist society unless we disassemble these systems that were written into our Constitution hundreds of years ago. So, yes, I'm glad Trump is gone, but I'm still not proud to be from a country that still holds value to anything created in the 1700’s. The last time I had hope for a president, it was in 2008 when Barack Obama was elected. Obama tried his best but without control of the House and Senate it was extremely hard for Obama to get any laws passed. The way the checks and balances work is an extremely unnecessarily complicated system. So I’m optimistic about this presidency but I know for the most part things are going to be the same because they are systematically the same. We have to change the system to change this country; not just presidents.
