Free Spirit Media Presents:
Student Documentary Networking Event
Wednesday, December 6, 2017
12pm-1:30pm
Nichols Tower
906 S Homan Ave. 11th Floor
Our Senior Documentary Networking Event is a unique opportunity for young people in one of our most advanced crews at Free Spirit Media to network with professionals relevant to their documentary topics. The fourteen participants in our Senior (Twelfth Grade) Documentary Production in-school program at North Lawndale College Prep are in the early phases of research on topics of their choice and outreach for a 10-minute documentary film they will each work on throughout the school year.
How You Can Help:
We're looking for adult professionals who can attend our lunchtime event and
- dialogue with our seniors, providing them with a practical introduction to networking
- provide an opportunity for students speak more about their documentary topics and give perspectives on the issues they have chosen for their films
- connect student filmmakers with potential interview subjects or someone who might point them to resources
Expertise Needed:
Here is the list of topics and driving questions each senior has developed for their documentary.
The types of professionals we hope might be represented at this networking event would be those involved in: higher and K-12 education, social services, psychology, law and law enforcement, criminal justice, sociology or cultural studies, activism or community organizing, media and journalism, or university-affiliated faculty and staff, among others.
