City Limits is a series from The Real Chi profiling artists who are not only pushing the culture forward with their work but actively working in their communities to better the city of Chicago.

Jaime Garza wears many hats. By day, he’s a Program Coordinator at the Eighteenth Street Development Corporation, helping homegrown businesses and local artists thrive in Pilsen, a historically Mexican-American community and one of Chicago’s most rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods. By night, he plays bass for Dos Santos, a popular jazz quintet that draws equally upon genres ranging from R&B to punk to various traditional Latin musics. The Real Chi spent a day with Jaime talking about his music, his work at ESDC and what makes Pilsen such a singular place.
