Artist and Curator, Lashun Tines kicked off his annual Art of Blackness 2019 Exhibition with a celebratory event at Chicago’s Block 37 on November 30th. In 2011 Tines created this exhibition in response to non-inclusive hiring practices that limited Black artists’ exposure within the art community. The goal of the event is to give African American more of a presence in the art community by hiring and highlighting in this showcase. The display ran through December 15th in downtown Chicago at Block 37. It featured 19 artists with diverse artwork and styles.
