Upcoming International Women’s Day Panel Hosted by Prison Yoga Chicago
In March, the history of women is celebrated, it is a time to commemorate women’s achievements and struggles they have overcome in the past.
On Sunday, March 8, Prison Yoga Chicago (PYC), a nonprofit organization, will be celebrating International Women’s Day by having a panel discussion featuring speakers addressing various topics ranging from voting, wellness, to the impacts we will have in the community. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with influential women. Complimentary drinks and snacks will be served.
PYC launched in 2016 with the belief that yoga should be accessible to everybody. Their mission is to provide trauma informed yoga, meditation, intention setting, and breath work as a form of social activism to help rehabilitate the criminal justice system. Their ultimate goal is to improve public safety by cultivating positive and healing energy for all beings.
Prison Yoga Chicago president Sasha Papazafeiropoulos says the motive behind this event comes from working closely with women in prison yoga programs and wanting to honor inspirational women in the community who are working on similar programs and acts. This will be their first time participating in International Women’s Day.
“We really want to encourage the discussion of speaking to powerful women in the community, we encourage everyone to attend this event and be a part of the conversation during the event,” said Papazafeiropoulos. “It will be an opportunity for networking and an opportunity with panelists.”
