Women Employed will be hosting the first of their three-part virtual discussion called “Roundtable of Sisterhood,” as part of their Working Lunch Series: Centering Women of Color for Lasting Change.

The first conversation of the series will be about the intersection of gender and racial equity. The hour long program will be held virtually through a Zoom Webinar and live-streamed on Facebook, Thursday, July. 16, 2020, beginning at 12:00 p.m. The conference will feature Felicia Davis, president/chief executive officer of Chicago Foundation for Women; Cherita Ellens, chief executive officer for Women Employed; Karen Freeman-Wilson, president, Chicago Urban League; and Audra Wilson, president/chief executive officer of the Shriver Center on Poverty Law. There will be transition into networking right after the program is over.

In May, Women Employed started The Working Lunch, a virtual event series to discuss what a true inclusive women’s movement looks like, and how to shape a stronger and more equitable future. Women Employed is a Chicago-based organization whose mission, according to their website, is “to improve the economic status of women and remove barriers to economic equity.”

The final two events in the series will be held in August and September. On Aug.13, 2020 the program will be discussing women’s equal pay and featuring different speakers. The last conference will be Sept.17, 2020  and it will be about young women and their success in the workforce.
