The National Museum of Mexican Art closed its doors to the public back in mid-March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The museum has since reopened to the public to offer community members free COVID-19 testing along with other beneficial screening services. 

On March 29, The National Museum of Mexican Art virtually announced that the museum has become one of the newest testing sites for the Pilsen community. The museum has partnered with Howard Brown Health, a LGBTQ community based organization, to provide no cost testing services to community patients. Along with other beneficial screening services, such as having screening services available in english and spanish, services will be offered regardless of immigrantion status.

According to the city of Chicago’s website, under their COVID Dashboard, it has been reported that the Latino community has had the most positivity rates of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. So much so that on the website, there has been an added resource for the Latinx community labeled COVID-19 LatinX response.

“The Latinx community continues to have more positive cases of COVID-19 compared to the rest of the city. CDPH is committed to continuing to focus resources to support this community,” according to the website. 

Testing hours are Tuesday- Thursday from 10:00am-4:00 pm. at the museum, located at 1825 W. 19th St.
