The premiere of the Free Spirit Media films on WTTW on May 3rd had 16,000 viewers with over half of the audience being between the age of 18-49. There was also an additional 9,000 people tuning in to a repeat that was played on May 5th. Thanks for tuning in! And see more information on the films that were screened below:

"Drive Slow" follows a teenager from the South-Side of Chicago attempting to finish his college essays. As he struggles to boil down his complex surroundings in 500 words, his friends' disparate opinions, racist news narratives, and the threat of lingering danger only complicate the process.

"Chosen Foe Life" is a narrative film about young man’s path that is altered forever after he nearly loses his life to gun violence, directed by FSM alum Montel Williams.

"National School Walkout & March For Our Lives" covers some of the Chicago school walkouts as well as the march in Washington, DC. It was produced by Free Spirit PRO.

"North Lawndale College Prep DC Trip" follows a group of students from Chicago's West Side neighborhoods to the march in DC.

"Between the systemic injustice and idealistic interpretations everyone has of this city, lies a story about tremendous hope in the face of adversity and oppression. One day I realized that if I ever wanted to see that story then I would have to do it myself, which is why I wrote 'Drive Slow.'"

— TERRENCE THOMPSON, DRIVE SLOW DIRECTOR
