Local Clinic Preparation
In the midst of the coronavirus changing life as we know it on a global scale, The Real Chi took a closer look at how West Side health care professionals are communicating their capacity to assist their respective communities.
Here are the responses we’ve received so far:
Austin Health Clinic has yet to respond to repeated attempts at contact.
The Lawndale Christian Health Center (LCHC), which has 10 service locations within the West Side, released a statement regarding COVID-19. In the statement the clinic informed the public of immediate changes in their capacity. The clinic will cancel all group services indefinitely; all upcoming community events within the next month are postponed; the clinics will not take visits for sick notes or return to work verifications; etc.
One local health agency, ACCESS Community Health Network, which has nearly a dozen locations on Chicago’s West Side, released a statement on March 13 to their clients and community stakeholders. The statement suggested physical and mental health best practices such as: avoid excessive media exposure, take care of your body, carve out “me” time, and connect with others, etc.
For the latest concerning coronavirus, ACCESS provided a list of trustworthy health organizations that could provide more information in the coming days and weeks.
