Local elected officials address coronavirus and treatment options
In the days leading up to the statewide shelter-in-place order a few West Side elected officials issued statements and provided resources for their respective constituencies.
Below are links to statements and resources made available by a select group of West Side elected officials:
Chairman of the Cook County Health and Hospitals Committee and Cook Commissioner Dennis Deer (2nd Dist.) stressed the importance of social distancing among other preventive measures along with a well of resources in a released statement. Here is a portion of Deer’s statement:
“...Keep in mind there is no treatment for COVID-19 and people who are mildly ill can isolate at home. While at home, as much as possible, stay in a specific room and away from other people. Those who need medical attention should contact their health care provider who will evaluate whether they can be cared for at home or need to be hospitalized.
This is a rapidly evolving situation and information will be updated as needed here and on the CDC website at cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
For general questions about COVID-19 and Illinois' response and guidance, call 1-800-889-3931 or email DPH.SICK@ILLINOIS.GOV.”
