Industry Pathways is a series of industry workforce development programs that help emerging creatives break into the media and film industries. We support young adult filmmakers and open access to opportunities, resources, and connections with industry professionals who can help them further their goals in developing successful, fulfilling careers.

Free Spirit Media’s Industry Pathways - The Chicago Track is a workshop and networking event series for emerging creatives who are interested in learning about the film and music industries. All Chicago Track events are free and open to the public for young adults ages 18-25. Pictured is Maame Addae who was the winner of our 2021 Script to Pitch competition. She won a $1000 scholarship and her film “Section 8” was produced by the Free Spirit Media 2022 Cohort.

WINTER/SPRING
The Free Spirit Media Industry Pathways Cohort Training Program is a unique opportunity for emerging Chicago-based media makers ages 18-25 to learn fundamental knowledge, build skills and gain the experience necessary to lay a foundation for a successful career in the film, media and TV industries. Previous Industry Cohort productions include Drive Slow (2017), written and directed by Terrence Thompson (Cohort, ‘17), Fuzzy Legs, written and directed by Amber Eswani (Cohort, ‘18), and the Free Spirit Media Effect (2019), produced by members of the 2019 cohort.

SUMMER
Free Spirit Media’s Industry Pathways Flash Forward is a summer internship and fellowship program. Interns and fellows receive opportunities to gain hands on experience and exposure in the media, film and television industry or in the classroom as crew leaders in Free Spirit Media’s youth summer journalism and broadcast programs. Opportunities are available for young creatives ages 16-24 with a passion for media production or journalism.
