Real Chi Youth hosts City Bureau Public Newsroom

Real Chi Youth hosted a Public Newsroom with City Bureau to discuss what it looks like to have a youth-led newsroom focused on solutions journalism. Attendees watched the latest RCY pieces including their coverage of the #NoCopAcademy campaign and stories about mental wellness in communities of color in Chicago. They discussed the problems with community journalism as it exists today and imagined what better coverage of their own communities would look like, brainstorming ways to get there. RCY live streamed it from their Facebook page for those who couldn't make it in person.
This event was part of City Bureau's #PublicNewsroom programming, a series of free, weekly workshops and discussions aimed at building trust between journalists and the communities they serve while shaping a more inclusive newsroom.
