Announcing our new Deputy Director: Glenance Green
By FSM Communications
Today is an exciting day for the growing #FSMfam as our new Deputy Director, Glenance Green, is starting her work with Free Spirit Media!
Directing efforts to design, plan, and execute K-12 research and evaluation activities at the federal, state, and local level, Glenance Green has spent the last five years working for the American Institutes for Research (AIR). Prior to joining AIR, Glenance worked at the Social Science Research Center at DePaul University. As an experienced project manager skilled at increasing organizational capacity, Glenance primarily focused on enhancing equity outcomes for low-income and underrepresented communities of color. With a background in sociology, Glenance has over 10 years of research experience.
In addition to being a researcher and scholar, Glenance is a creator, content generator, and activist artist. Published author of the book Shades of Green, Glenance has forged her own creative path to visual and performing arts through writing. She is the founder and director of A g Thing!, a creative agency in the City of Chicago that aids as a catalyst in bringing unsung voices and their narratives to the broader community through artistic activism as a means of shifting political consciousness to influence systems change. Glenance is also the creator of Melanin Voices, a performance collective series of poetry and live literature purposed to showcase the local, unsung voices in literature and highlight the narratives illuminated from their writings as a tool of deconstructing and reimagining political consciousness.
Glenance earned her BA from Loyola University Chicago and MA from DePaul University, and studied policy in urban education while in pursuit of a PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
